The City of Portland Home Energy Score
The City of Portland Home Energy Score program will begin on January 1, 2018. The program requires sellers of single-family homes to obtain a home energy report, including a home energy score, from a licensed home energy assessor.
The purpose of the home energy score is to provide a comparable method for understanding how a house uses energy for the future buyer of the home.
It is estimated that approximately a third of the annual cost to operate a home is related to energy use. The rule is meant to provide information on how efficiently a home uses energy.
For more information on home performance, see the Home Performance Guild's website.
